2

Submit Application

Log in to your DBPR online account to complete the renewal application. Your school will report course completion.

3

Pay Renewal Fee

Understanding License Status

Failing to renew on time has significant consequences. Here's what happens to your license status.

Active

You renewed on time. You can continue to practice real estate.

Involuntary Inactive (0-2 Years)

You missed the deadline. You cannot practice real estate, but you can reactivate by completing CE and paying late fees.

Involuntary Inactive (>2 Years)

Your license has been inactive for over two years and automatically becomes null and void.

Null & Void

Your license is gone permanently. You must retake all pre-licensing courses and pass the state exam again.

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to common renewal questions.

What's the difference between Post-Licensing and Continuing Education?

+

Post-Licensing Education (PLE) is a one-time requirement for your very first license renewal. It's a more intensive course designed for new agents. Continuing Education (CE) is required for every subsequent renewal (every 2 years) to keep you updated on laws and best practices.

How do I know my renewal deadline?

+

Your real estate license expiration date is printed on the license itself. All licenses expire on either March 31st or September 30th. Your initial license period will be between 18 and 24 months, ensuring your expiration lands on one of those two dates.

What if I'm a Broker? How are my requirements different?

+

The requirements are very similar. For the first renewal, Brokers need to complete 60 hours of Post-Licensing education. For subsequent renewals, the 14-hour Continuing Education requirement is the same as for Sales Associates. The renewal fee is slightly higher for Brokers (around $36).

Can I complete my education online?

+

Yes, the vast majority of agents complete their Post-Licensing and Continuing Education courses online through DBPR-approved real estate schools. This offers flexibility to complete the coursework at your own pace.
